Summer in the Sunshine
Location: Lake Wylie & South End CLT
This summer has been everything. My goal this summer was to simply enjoy. I have done just that and it's not even over - I still have a month left until the school year starts up again. I have taken full advantage of the sunshine and being outside, it is giving me so much life.
I have been teaching swim lessons and babysitting for some extra cash. My schedule has been so great for me. I gave myself time to work a little, get things done around the apartment that has been put off for a while, plus living my life in the sun.
I have been biking, walking, boating, swimming, and reading - so much reading.
Summer is so good for my soul. I truly love the time to take care of myself. I have been enjoying slow mornings with coffee. Working out and reaching new goals. Vitamin D every single day. Long walks with the pup in the evenings. Reading new books after frequent visits to the library. Trying new things. Catching up with friends.
I love that I have been taking advantage of enjoying the summer. I felt today like I was ready to actually think about work and setting some new goals for the school year. But before I jump back to school mode I have fun exciting travel adventures to close out my summer - including one place I have never been before. Stay tuned.
Cheers to enjoying life, sunshine, and summertime.

The Summer of the Romper
Outfit: Sandals | Romper [this one is no longer available online but I linked the whole romper page so you can search for your own fun romper!]
I have officially declared this summer, the summer of the romper. I don't know what it is about rompers but I seem to have only purchased them for all of my fun summer events this season. They are so comfortable and truly versatile. The only problem is that I won't be able to wear them to work. I guess thats why I have embraced rompers and the summer together.
This romper is absolutely adorable. I love the detail on the back that really dresses it up. The material is a nice chiffon that can be worn with sandals like I have done here, or really dressed up for evenings with some fun heels.
Mike and I have been having so much fun exploring our area. We are literally walking distance to so many fun restaurants, breweries, and fun spots. I can't wait to share some of my new south end favorites with all of you! Summer has brought about so many new opportunities and adventures. I love looking cute but feeling super comfy all at the same time and that's what rompers provide for me!

Summer Goals Check In
Location: Outer Banks, North Carolina
One week from now I head back to work to start setting up my office as well as prepping for the school year to begin. This summer has been absolutely wonderful for me. I wrote a post before summer began about all the things that I wanted to do this season. A bucket list of sorts; you can read it all here.
Every once and a while I make a list of goals that I want to accomplish. Typically around new years when everyone reflects on what the year brought and the changes they can make for a better year ahead. I suppose this summer was my new year. Now that it is coming to an end I have looked back at my list, while I am pleased at all that I have done I had an aha moment.
While I was looking at all that I wanted to see and experience this summer I realized some things I wanted to do at the beginning of summer were simply forgotten about. I also realized that life happens. Sometimes we make the best plans, set goals, and then they don't happen. Instead of focusing on what hasn't happened life is about practicing gratitude for what actually happens.
So instead of looking back at my list, going through it and checking off what I did and didn't do. My check in with myself is answering one simple question. Am I relaxed and rejuvenated in spending my summer full of fun events and taking care of myself? My answer is most definitely; yes.
This last week will be spent loving life and summertime for a little while longer.
How has your summer been? What do your goals teach you about gratitude?

Making the Most of Summertime
Outfit: Romper | Shoes [Similar]
I have to admit, typically I am a fall obsessed girl. Not this year, though. I have probably been craving summer since probably February. Now, that I can see my school year start date on the calendar so soon I don't want it to end!
This summer has been so necessary for me personally, it has also been a lot of fun. There has been a lot of transition for me with moving to a new apartment, and learning a lot of little life lessons that Jesus and I have been working on. This summer I have also decided to set the to do list aside for what is really important. I want my actions to reflect my words. If I am going to be true to that it means calling my loved ones, setting up friend dates, exploring my new neighborhood, being outside in the sunshine, and truly celebrating this life.
Summer has been my opportunity to reflect on what is important and incorporate that in my life. With a few more weeks of summer I am determined to make the most of it. I also want to bring a little bit of my summertime self with me to my school year. The to - do list will always be there but the experiences, the daylight late at night, the outdoor yoga, the flowers, those things end up fading with winter. Not this year.
Summer you are slowly becoming my new favorite because of all the life changing lessons you have taught me. You have brought me closer to friends. You have given me sun kissed skin and lighter hair. You have given me lots of much needed rest. You have warmed my heart and soul. You have taught me to explore, to cherish life, and to slow down.
Cheers to celebrating summer and making the most of it.
How are you celebrating summertime?
P.S. If you love my romper as much as I do; check out Ivy & Leo. You can use the code AMANDA10 for 10% off your purchases, they are also having a crazy summer sale right now - 30% off all summer items to make room for their fall line!

Paisley Kimono
Location: Charlotte, NC
Outfit Details: Kimono [Ivy & Leo] | Jean Shorts [Abercrombie: old] | Sandals [Jack Rogers]
It is hot in Charlotte during the summer. We get humidity that is unreal. Most days in the summer I am in a swim suit, old habits die hard. Fun fact: I swam competitively from the age of 5 through college! When I do have go somewhere that is not a pool I like to feel a little put together without feeling like all my clothes are sticking to me in this crazy heat.
A kimono is a perfect way to dress up an outfit of just a tank and jean shorts. I love how this one flows, has a beautiful print, and some fun tassels! Putting on this kimono just makes me feel like I am ready to go to an outdoor concert or have a fun adventure. It really pulls the whole outfit together.
We have officially moved to our new place. Feeling settled and organized will probably take me a while, especially since we are on the hunt for a new couch. Even without having a couch and boxes all over the place driving me crazy; I am having so much fun exploring this neighborhood in Charlotte. Be on the lookout soon for some of the places we explore around here!

Summer Country Concerts
Location: PNC Music Pavillion
Outfit Details: Romper | Shoes
There is something about summertime and country music that just go together like peanut butter and jelly. Every time the weather starts to warm up and the sun decides to stay out longer I turn my radio in the car to the local country station. I really just love how country music instills a notion in me to slow down and focus on what is important in life.
Last week, in the midst of our packing extravaganza, we had the chance to take a break and go enjoy life a bit by going to a concert with some friends. Luke Combs was opening for Brantley Gilbert in Charlotte. He is a fellow mountaineer [Go App!] so we had to go see him and support. I remember when he was just starting out playing small bars in Boone and around NC and now he is playing at the big time concert venue in Charlotte! Cheers to you Luke - keep chasing your dreams!
Mike is definitely not a country music fan but even he had a great time catching up with friends, doing some tailgating, and above all listening and dancing to some fun music!
Have you had a chance to go to some fun summer concerts? Which ones are your favorite?

Outer Banks 2017 | A Clamming Adventure
Location: Pamlico Sound, Outer Banks, North Carolina
Details: Team Dempsey Guide Service
Have you ever been clamming? This was a first for me for sure; but it was an absolute blast! My sister and her boyfriend arranged the whole trip for us. We headed down to the marina to get on our boat. The day was pretty cloudy and lightly rainy; the weather didn't stop us from going and having a good time. By the end of the trip the sun started peeking through the clouds a little!
We took the boat out to the Pamlico Sound where a sand bar was formed. We just got out of the boat to about knee deep water and walked out in the middle of the sound to the sand bar. Basically you walk around in the water digging your heels into the sand until you hit a clam.
Did you know a clam spends it's whole life going only vertical and never moving away from their original spot?
Our limit was 200 clams. You can't get more than that because clams, like oysters, are natural water filters and we want our earth to have nice clean water. As a group we found way more than 200 in just the little spot we were walking around in. We counted them out at the end of the trip and threw the excess away.
The 200 that we did catch we cooked up later that evening. They were so fresh and delicious. We literally just had clams and wine for dinner and it was pure bliss.
If you are ever in the Hatteras region of the Outer Banks contact Team Dempsey Guide Service! This links to their facebook page. They did a fantastic job of taking us out for our clamming trip and a little bit of fishing for my dad to test out his new pole. They run these clamming trips and also purely fishing trips out on the sound!
This was an amazing way to spend part of our day on the island. Clamming was definitely one of the most unique experiences I have ever had.
P.S. RIP to the hat I am wearing in these photos. I flipped my kayak on a huge wave two days later and sadly the hat got taken away by the ocean while I was in survival mode. Now I am in search of a new favorite hat, any recommendations?
What is the most interesting thing you have ever done at the beach?!

Outer Banks 2017 | Beach Living
I have been hyping up summertime and my beach vacation here so much; and now I am back in Charlotte after the best week. Going to the beach was the perfect way to start my summer off. It was my first week off of school so being near water completely helped me hit the reset button.
My priority for the week was to create some healthy habits that can sustain me throughout the summer. I don't know about you but I do a lot better with a routine because then I am prepped for what is to come. But I want to be healthy and flexible at the same time this summer! Now that I am back and reflecting on this trip I definitely accomplished what I set out to do. See my post I wrote for how to stay healthy on vacation for some of the tips I followed!
Our family rented a house in the Outer Banks in Avon, a town near where my sister lives on the island! The house was so fantastic. Beach front property for the win [shout out to mom and dad & my sis for being the best property manager at Hatteras Realty]
We had a week full of sunshine, family board games, trips around the island, fishing, boating, driving to the point, kayaking, walks on the beach, night time fires and star gazing, delicious food, catching up, and a week full of making amazing memories.
What I love about being on the island is that time just kind of slows down. There isn't a lot of things to do around but that is perfectly okay. I like it better actually. I am such a beach bum that my whole day is spent outside. Being able to just go with the flow, slow down, relax, and not have to rush or worry about going out at night either was exactly what I needed for this vacation.
Have you ever been to the Outer Banks? What is your favorite part about beach vacations?

Carolina Blue and City Views
Location: Charlotte, NC
Outfit Details: Top: Ivy & Leo [not online] | Pants: LC Lauren Conrad [old] | Shoes: Target [old]
Happy Wednesday & summer solstice sweet friends. I am currently at the beach with my family. This vacation has been so good for me thus far. I have been waking up early and walking Finn then working out and spending the rest of my days on the beach in the sunshine. I talked last week about staying healthy on vacation and I am proud to say following my own advice has left me feeling so great. I am proud of myself for making the time to be active, to pay attention to my nutrition, and ultimately practice self-care daily.
I can finally feel myself relax. I have been talking about summer for so long it still doesn't seem real that it's now here. I can say that I am loving the off the shoulder trend for summer. I have been working on my arms and shoulders with tone it up and I can't wait to wear this beautiful shirt to show them off this summer.
I tend to gravitate toward blues because I feel like I look the best in them. Every time I try to branch out and change it up a piece like this just jumps out at me and I have to get it. This top is from my favorite local boutique in Charlotte called Ivy & Leo. I am so excited to share with you guys that even though they are Carolina local boutiques they have an online shop and if you order anything from Ivy & Leo you can use the code AMANDA10 to get 10% off your purchase. :)
What is your favorite summer trend right now?
